Quilt Block for Georgia

I finally finished my quilt block for Georgia. As you've probably heard, she is organizing a tatting themed quilt to be used as a fund raiser for the Palmetto Tat Days Scholarship program. By some coincidence, my quilt block seems to have teapots on it.

A few more South Carolina pictures.

More Charleston

The next day on vacation was an official "guy" day. DH gets dragged so many places I want to go, it's good that he gets a day sometime. We went to Patriot's Point in Mt. Pleasant, SC, home of the USS Yorktown, a WWII aircraft carrier.

On board were planes....

...lots and lots of planes.

We were also able to go on board the USS Clamagore, a Cold War era submarine.

Then a nice ferry ride over to see the ruins of Fort Sumter.

I actually got some tatting done on vacation. I'll show that later.

More About Charleston

I really enjoyed my day in downtown Charleston, though there is much more to do there than is possible in a single day. A good place to start is the tip of the peninsula, know as the Battery.

The White Point Gardens there is a beautiful park....

...with great view of the harbor.

There happened to be men in period dress firing a cannon that day, too.

At the Exchange and Provost Dungeon, there happened to be a little lace upstairs...

...and we had a very entertaining and educational guide for the dungeon downstairs.

Danny got to pick one place to go, and his choice was Tommy Condon's Irish Pub. No surprise there, I guess. We sat on the patio and enjoyed watching the horse-drawn carriages go by.

The Market was fun, too. I tried to watch the ladies weaving baskets, but they would stop if they noticed I was looking.

I Came, I Saw, I Ate

On my recent trip to South Carolina, I have had benne wafers and boiled peanuts; she-crab soup and shrimp & grits; seafood on Shem's Creek. Truly, I have done Charleston. Oh, and we walked around and looked at stuff ;)

The view from my table for Mother's Day dinner.

Danny came along, too.

More later...

I'll be away from the computer for a week or so. Vacation time, oh boy!

More Block Critters

Several of you have guessed that I am working on a new Block Critter book. I don't have a book full yet. What critters would you like to see?

Heather's Tatted Ladies

I recently received my copy of Heather's book that I mentioned recently. There are patterns for 12 ladies, and they are all quite different and very pretty. Each pattern is given in both written and diagram form, and the print is nice and big. In fact, it comes to 74 pages. Instead of a more traditional binding, it comes in a report folder, so you can leave it together as a book, or take out the pages you are working on. It is also available as a PDF download. You can go to her blog or Etsy shop for more information.
