Braids

I've been dabbling (read: wasting lots of time on the internet) in the history of coronation cord, rick rack, and turtle braid.

You have no  idea how much joy this screen shot from the Sears & Roebuck Spring 1922 catalog brings me.

  2. And the trims are made of cotton!

  3. I'd forgotten about turtle back braid! I sometimes wish I could have a conversation with my grandmothers and great-grandmothers to see what techniques they were interested in.

  4. I know rick rack is very old and a lot older than your piece of paper, but I have never heard of turtle back braid.

  5. Just for your curiosity, I've heard that in Italian they were used to be called mignardise, "à la française"
